Personality & Traits

General Overview Janik is a deep thinker, always pondering the unknowns which makes him suitable for his position as a science officer. He has a curiosity of all things including anything related to the universe and that unanswerable of all unanswerable questions: "What is the nature of the universe?". Janik can be brusque with those that he deems as wasting his time, but he is always open to anyone bringing new ideas or challenging him on his own conceptions. If the challenge improves a problem that he is pondering, he quickly accepts it and he will give due credit. It's the ideas and the answers that matter to him.
Strengths & Weaknesses Can seem a bit distance to those he does not know which often times can be misconstrued as being self-centered. Janik has the tendency to do what it takes to solve a problem and has, on occasion, overlooked protocol in regards to titles or rank. He can appear a bit disorganized at times, his lab and personal surroundings cluttered. When he is really into working an issue he can be a bit clueless to other people's concerns. He has a deep disdain to using science to create weapons or using it harm sentient beings. This disdain also made it difficult for Janik to use weapons, and he barely passed Starfleet's standard weapons and combat training.
Ambitions As a scientist the answer matters more to Janik. Starfleet is a tool to him; it's vast resources and scientific support infrastructure far superior than most colleges or teaching installations. He is more excited at solving a complex problem regarding something such as astrophysics than being told he has been promoted.
Hobbies & Interests Reading, gardening, or playing the piano in his off time.

Personal History Janik was born in Stuttgart, Germany. Both his mother and father were professors at the Stuttgart Technical University where, as a team, they wrote a scientific paper regarding improving harmonics in relations to warp fields that gave them acclaim. Janik was found to possess the same intellectual gifts as his parents, but his interests were primary in stellar cartography and anything involving stellar formations. After attending and earning his degree in Stellar Cartography at STU, he entered Starfleet. It was Starfleet that he worked under Doctor Sorus, a Vulcan instructor, and became enamored with his theories on the universe and subatomic structures. While at Starfleet, Janik earned a second degree in Subspace Sciences.
Service Record Pending.
